Forum: GratefulDead Subject: need some help with FLAC24

I just downloaded 3/7/81 MOTB show and chose the flac24 show vs 16 for no other reason than 24 must be better than 16! Anyway, I converted the show to wav so that I could burn the show on a disk and transfer to my ipod. My software (roxio) would not allow me to burn it and I also noticed that the whole show was 4gb, which would take about 5 disks. Is there a way to compress the show back to what a normal flac would be? Should I have chosen the Flac16? Or is this file type more suitable for storing on a very large hard drive or dvd? Thanks for any help...I checked all the faq's but there's no mention anywhere. By the way, the show is a killer and an upgrade from the 2 sources that I've heard here.

flac24 is for dvd-audio only, the flac16 is for cd audio.dvd-audio is better quality but you must have a sound system that supports dvd-audio or on your computer a dvd-audio sound card.keep the 24 for the future since that is the way audio is heading to.players and software support are droppin in price.go download the flac16 for cd burning unless you know someone who knows how to convert 24 back to 16,which i think you can't do,i could be wrong.

Thanks Tiger.

By the way, I see there's now a sbd for 9-13-81 on etree. quality is ok, but the aud is only average as well. I'd love to see the other 2 nights one of these days.
